People always going on about "jealousy" and "insecurity" and "hang-ups" in the extreme negative.
You know what? My "hang-ups" were what kept me from making the same mistake in dating that I made with my first husband. My "jealousy" was what kept my radar on track when certain persons I dated decided to "open up" without notifying me of that decision. My "insecurities" are what keep me plugging away at problems and miscommunications and failing relationships rather than saying "ah well" and walking away at the first sign of difficulty.
So screw your '70s throwback pseudo-analysis; humans have emotions for reasons that are far more complex than just a simple "oh that's your hang-up" By dismissing these emotions as "unecessary" you are signalling your need for a simplified psyche... but it ain't simple no matter how you would like it to be.
