I figured it out

In lieu of a very long (and paradoxical) explanation of some decisions, I realize the bottom line: I am done with people whose main attitude in life is "you can't tell me ANYTHING I am above reproach! I have nothing to learn from anyone else!"

That's just not where I'm at and I've wasted far too much time on that kind of immaturity. I think raising teenagers has helped bring this about.
