mini-update: book review
Apr. 20th, 2006 09:16 amJust finished with The Da Vinci Code
Not bad. The writing was decent. The story was decent. The mystery and all was nothing new to me but still presented in a very appealing way. I did notice the flaws and discrepancies but most of them are minor and not worth getting my panties in a bunch about it. As far as his inaccuracies about France and England, wel I wouldn't know since I never been to either of those places.
I'm absolutely not one for conspiracy theories, mostly cuz I think the larger the group of people you try to make do the same thing the more likely you will have leaks, failings, fallings out, disgruntled persons who write a tell-all book etc. Also, I tend to believe what often looks like conspiracy is actually an open atttempt at control by some group. I mean, republicans and the right-wing? That's not a conspiracy, that's just a bunch of power-hungry bozos working together. They don't hide it at all.
Anyway, it ws a decent read. I wouldn't really get excited about it but then again, I've already gotten through most of Holy Blood, Holy Grail as well as The Christ Conspiracy: the greatest story ever sold both of which were references for TDVC. If you aren't familiar with the Holy "Grail" theories adnd such when it comes to Christianity, TDVC is a good starting place because it presents the theories pleasantly and fairly speedily. But if you're already fairly hip to this stuff, it's nothing new... just a decent read.
