One I missed

Whale Rider

Excellent. Simple story, intriguing culture, quiet direction, touching but not cloying and satisfying without being overdone. A bit of a "family film" with maybe a touch of "Afterschool special" but not annoyingly so. The only problem I see with it is that middle age children could definitely benefit from seeing it but most kids would probably find it boring. Highly recommended.
