grumbling about men
Feb. 4th, 2005 08:48 pmY'know I once got an email which was a list of things men want to say to women. It was interesting enough that I composed a reply to it and CCed to everyone.
The one that springs to mind right now is:
You can either ask me to do something OR tell me how to do it, not both
which seems like a reasonable request, although when taken in the context of male/female relations it isn't quite that simple. My reply was something along the lines of You can either help me by doing something fully and correctly WHEN I ask you to do it, OR you can get out of my way and listen to me bitch
I'd like to add a bit to that thought:
You can either help me [by doing something fully and correctly WHEN I ask you to do it] QUIETLY or you can get out of my way and listen to me bitch.
If it's one thing I can't stand, it's being constantly interrupted when I'm busy to answer questions such as "where is the ___?"
Believe it or not, it's easier to just do it myself than it is to stop what I'm doing, think about your request, recall the answer and relay it to you.
Now I understand why one of my mother's frequent phrases throughout my childhood was "will you quit pestering me?!"
Ditto that, mom, ditto that.
