unhappy conclusion
Feb. 1st, 2005 09:21 amI am getting rid of the pets.
All of them consitute more work and aggravation than they are worth to me personally and frankly it rankles my animal-lover heart that the people who supposedly "love" the animals the most and cry at me not to get rid of them simply cannot bring themselves to consistantly help care for them. It has been a year since any of them have seen a vet or gotten their shots. The cats are still urinating on MY laundrey as well as my kids' stuff. I am completely disgusted with the whole endeavor. I have begged, pleaded, threatened and cajoled and still I am left constantly cleaning up after them as well as making sure they get minimal attention to their needs. The laundrey room (where the catboxes are) stinks and if my clothes fall out of the dryer they fall in loose litter-bits. I am completely sick of the situation. The people who supposedly love these animals so much have promised me time and again they will help me or at least take the animals to the vet and yet they still do nothing. I've had it. I cannot keep house for four adults and three kids and still keep up after three cats, a dog and a rat. At least my rat does not whine at me every time I walk into the room because she's pathetically unhappy about being shut-in. At least my rat manages to keep her personal refuse where it belongs, rather than all over MY things. At least my rat doesn't pretend to love me just to turn around and ruin my carpet.
You know, everyone agrees that if you don't have the time/money to really pay attention to a child's needs, you shouldn't have children. But having a pet means just petting it occasionally? No, people, pets need visits to the doctor, consistantly feeding, playtime, exercise and a fucking maid. If you don't want to be a maid for an animal, don't get a pet.
I'm done this time.
