Hell Week II:

Sunday. Materials day. Baph plans to go to Home Labyrinth and take second son with him. Baph wakes up around 2pm. Preparation to depart takes so long second son starts bitching about waiting. They finally leave. I'm supposed to start clearing out the room. The Yellow King and My Lady are not coming because they realizd that it is a holiday weekend and family-type stuff must be done first. Okay. Before I start clearing out room, I get a phone call; Baph needs measurements. I comply. Less than an hour later, phone rings again; Baph needs decision. I comply. Another hour goes by. Phone rings; Baph needs measurements. etc

Baph and second son return just before dark. Baph has gas dryer sitting in back of car. It is too late to make anything. We stash wood. We argue. I end up yelling. It's exhausting.

Monday. Baph wakes up and begins projects. I am running around, dealing with messes, kids and business calls galore. I'm still sleepy. Baph finishes shelving; it's too big. He has to cut a whole shelf off or else it won't fit in the door. I take one look at the shelving unit and think "that is not a bookcase, that is a utility shelf." Oh sure, I could put books on it, but that would be wasting about 75% of the space on it. I decide to just wait before saying anything because at this point, I'm about to cry or scream. We can't install the door treadway because the floor underneath is concrete and I don't have a masonry drill bit to make the screw holes. Baph start cutting wood for the baseboards. Because of this, the boys can't play with the hose. So they run around the house, driving me nuts. Four days of little boys running around, complaining about cleaning, and having 50% less space than we had three days ago: I'm really about to lose it. I can't put anything away because the room isn't finished. I can't clean up much because there's stuff piled all over the place. I can't find anything for the kids to do except clean their room because their room is the only place with any space.
Night comes. Baph is determined to finish the projects. I just want him to stop. He hasn't eaten, he's hot and sweaty and grouchy and I am thinking "no private time for us during a FOUR-DAY holiday!"

Eventually, I make him stop. I tell him we can just let it all sit this way until we can get things done right.

Tuesday morning. Baph is upset because the gas dryer is still in his car and he needs to go to work. We get it out and place it inside the dining room. I'm about to pass out by now; moving all the wood inside last night and moving the shelving unit and the gas dryer inside today has about used up my internal resources.
The Yellow King and My Lady show up around 11am. We decide to at least clean out the linen closet in the hallway. Things go great. We throw out more than half of what was in there and my Lady goes to the grocery store for me. Eventually, TYK leaves for work and My lady and I get to just hang out for a little bit.

Baph comes home from work. We hang. We play online. I finally get to bed around 11pm. I finally get some good sleep. Baph bought me some herbal sleeping tablets which work pretty darned good.

We planned on hooking up our new gas dryer this weekend. Guess what? No go. The gas line is short and only a professional can extend it for us. I went to home labyrinth myself and found all this out late at night.

And today?
My dad came by yesterday, looked at the work done and told Baph he had to tear up the baseboards because they are the wrong kind of wood.
The shelving unit is decent and good for putting tons of stuff away, but we can't use it (still) because it's sitting in the dining room and will have to be moved a couple of times in order to rip up the baseboards.

*sigh*
